How did you end up at Catalyze and what do you do?
During my Ph.D. and two postdocs in the Life Sciences, I became fascinated by the journey an innovation or product takes before reaching the patient. Additionally, I realized my interests were broader than just the topic of my own research. I then started as a consultant at (the predecessor of) Catalyze. At Catalyze, I had the opportunity to work on various topics within the Life Sciences, collaborating with different people/clients. This allowed me to have a greater impact on realizing a product or innovation. Now, almost 13 years later, I am a Principal Consultant in the Strategy department, specializing in Business Consulting. Alongside my colleagues, I provide advice to (starting or more established) companies and conduct market research. I am involved in developing various projects and creating business cases for our clients’ innovations, assisting them in securing financing. This way, I witness various innovations or products cross the finish line.
Can you describe how you make an impact for your clients in your daily work?
For my clients, I serve as a business advisor and their main point of contact, providing support in both content and process, ensuring they are fully taken care of. I find fulfilment in my work when I can ensure smooth processes, helping our clients meet deadlines for grant applications or other forms of financing – a complex process. Moreover, I enjoy thinking on a company level with my clients; what do they want to develop, what is needed to achieve this, and will it be successful? This, too, is a process. In all cases, I try to use and share my accumulated knowledge. The motto that guides my work is: “Innovative ideas deserve a chance to reach their full potential.”
Can you describe what you like about your team, your colleagues, the collaboration within and the culture of Catalyze?
Catalyze has an open and friendly culture. My colleagues all have a proactive mindset, which I find very pleasant and important. We listen to each other. I enjoy working with multiple colleagues on a project every day of the week, helping each other make it successful by bringing together our complementary expertise. Good collaboration and a positive atmosphere apply to all departments and all employees, from consultants to management and directors, business development, finance, HR, and Wilma, our catering lady who works hard every day to provide us with a delicious and healthy lunch. Catalyze also values the personal development of its employees. I have had the opportunity to do so myself over the past years, and have bene given plenty of freedom.
